Dance workshop 50+ | sLow Air
Cultural Education.
sLow Air is a series of movement classes designed for older adults.
The sessions are designed to bring people together to share a common space and time, fostering creativity, nonverbal communication skills, motor functions, and emotional and physical well-being.
As we travel the world, we notice that dance unequivocally reduces isolation and breaks down stereotypes about what is the “right” age to move and dance. Everyday movements can transform into liberating dance, improving both physical and psychological well-being.
About the workshop:
On April 8 at 7:00 p.m., we invite you to a dance movement class for people aged 50+ with choreographer and teacher Laurynas Žakevičius.
When working with older adults, Laurynas draws on natural body movement and simple forms of movement used in urban and contemporary dance. By combining imagery and bodily reactions, participants immerse themselves in the experience of the here and now.
Program:
7:00 PM – 7:30 PM: discussion on the importance of movement, introduction to the session
7:30 PM – 8:30 PM: movement session
8:30 PM – 9:00 PM: reflection on the session
Please wear loose-fitting clothing suitable for movement that won’t restrict you from sitting or lying down on the floor. We will be moving barefoot.
sLow Air – an ongoing series of sessions; the next session is scheduled for May 13.
Classes will take place at the Low Air Dance School (Gedimino pr. 2A, 3rd floor)
