Frequently asked questions

First class

How to prepare for your first dance class?
– Before coming to your first dance class, you need to fill out a registration form and wait for confirmation of your registration by email.

– Please arrive 15-20 minutes early for your first dance class. This time is intended for greeting the administrator, paying for the first class (by bank card or cash), putting away your belongings, changing clothes, putting on your dance shoes, and entering the hall with a smile.

– For your first class, you should bring comfortable clothing, clean shoes (in contemporary dance and sLow Air lessons, we dance in socks or barefoot), and a water bottle.

What clothes and shoes should you choose for dance lessons?

– Clothes should not restrict your body. The most important thing is comfort. If you look good and feel good, you will dance with ease. Make sure you have something to change into if you get hot. We move around a lot during classes, so it’s a good idea to take off your sweater. There are separate changing rooms for boys and girls.

– We dance street dance styles (hip-hop, breakdancing, house, waacking, locking) in comfortable (sports) shoes, and we dance jazz dance in shoes with heels (or comfortable sports shoes). The most important thing is to bring clean and light shoes that you feel comfortable in. It is better to only dance in them and not walk on the street. Please note that your shoes should not leave black marks. It is better not to wear such shoes. If you want to buy special dance shoes, please contact us – our teachers will advise and recommend you. In contemporary dance, contact improvisation, and sLow Air classes, we dance in socks or barefoot.

How much do dance classes cost?

– The price of the first class is €18. If you want to try several different classes, each first class costs €18. After the first (or several different) classes, if you decide to continue and purchase a monthly membership, the fee for the first (or several first) classes will be deducted, and you will only need to pay the balance for the membership.

– Every child enrolled in primary, basic, or secondary education programs is eligible for Non-formal children’s Education basket (NVOMO) funding. The NVOMO allowance is €25/month. (Children with special educational needs and children receiving social assistance or eligible for social assistance are eligible for an increased NVOMO allowance of €50/month).

To take advantage of NVOMO compensation at the Low Air dance school, you need to sign a contract, which we will send to parents by email once they start attending dance classes.

With the NVOMO allowance, a compensation of €25 (or €50) applies to the monthly subscription. Read more about the NVOMO allowance HERE.

How to choose a dance style and group?

– If you want to start dancing but are not sure which dance style to choose, we invite you to try out a few different classes or consult with an administrator who will help you choose from the wide range of classes available.

– To the frequently asked question, “Is it too late for me to start dancing?”, we respond that it is never too late to start dancing! At the Low Air dance school, we invite everyone aged 7 and above to dance – children aged 7-11, teenagers aged 12-17, young people aged 18+ and adults. We invite all adults over the age of 40 to join the sLow Air classes.

– If you want to dance, but the dance classes for your age group are at a time that doesn’t suit you or the group is full, we invite you to join other older or younger age groups or consult with the administrator, who will offer alternatives. We are open to everyone, so we will find an individual solution for each person.

– Every year, we organize an event for the Low Air dance school community, an evening of dance etudes called “The Bigest Event of the Year,” during which all students have the opportunity to perform on a professional theater stage. Each group, together with their teacher, prepares a special dance performance, which they present to the audience. Each performance is documented, so a video of each dance is created after the event.

– During the “Biggest Event of the Year,” each dancer has the opportunity to test themselves by dancing on stage in front of more than 200 spectators with professional lighting and stage costumes, as well as to see the creative “kitchen” of dance performances and become part of the evening of etudes.

– On April 29, in celebration of International Dance Day, the Low Air dance school community, together with their teachers, will prepare dance etudes in outdoor spaces in Vilnius, thus creating a different dance experience by dancing outdoors, settling in different city spaces, and performing for passers-by and city guests.

– To mark the beginning and end of the dance season, we organize dance battles and parties on Gediminas Avenue, so you can meet and share dance moves with dance friends and teachers not only during dance classes, but also during events.

– In addition to all of the above events, every year we organize the international hip hop dance festival Urban Essentials, the international winter dance camp Dance Colony in Nida, the international festival PŪGA, a children’s summer day camp, and we present performances from the repertoire of the urban dance theater Low Air, as well as other events and festivals organized by the Vilnius city dance theater Low Air.
