Dance performance ME TWO / WE, THE CLIQUE | Vilnius
A dance performance that has earned critical and public acclaim for its bold, sincere, and moving stories, as well as its exceptional music and set design.
The dramaturgy of the performance “me two / We, the Clique” is based on the personal experiences of a group of young dancers related to power dynamics, the formation of LGBTQ+ identity, sexual harassment, and the abuse of power against young people. This encourages belonging to “one’s own circle” and sharing. Audience members are invited to view adolescence from the perspective of an observer, a parent, a teacher, or a decision-maker, and to reflect on the boundaries of power in interpersonal and intergenerational relationships.
“In the performance, the body breaks free from shyness and, through this act, is liberated from trauma. A statement is made, followed by ‘Me too,’ ‘Me as well,’ ‘That happened to me too,’ and through this shared experience—its outpouring—collective healing takes place. ‘Me too’ leads to humorous moments, to playfulness, and to collective joy. <…> Here, the aesthetic impact of art is palpable. Catharsis through a shared experience.” (Reinis Dzudzilo, Menų faktūra, November 12, 2022)
