Juozas Veiverys is a contemporary dance teacher and performer. In 2018, while still a student, he began taking dance classes at the Aura Dance Theater in Kaunas. Intrigued by contemporary dance, he began attending morning movement classes organized by the Contemporary Dance Association and “Movement Lab” classes organized by contemporary dancer and choreographer Marius Pinigis.
Wanting to learn as much as possible about dance, he volunteered at the international contemporary dance festival “New Baltic Dance” and the international theater festival “SIRENOS.” He attended the “Summer Intensive” organized by Dance.lt, as well as individual workshops on dance and movement led by teachers such as Orlando Rodriguez, Kulli Rosona, Anton Safonov, and Patricia D. Casey.
Juozas actively participates in the work of other creators and choreographers; recently, he took part in Pietro Marulo’s dance performance “Wreck,” Nicolas Cantillon’s dance performance “Wall and Co,” Agnietė Lisičkinaitė and Greta Grinevičiūtė’s dance excursion — performance “Einu pirkti pieno” and Indrė Puišytė-Šidlauskienė’s dance excursion — performance “Pakopa Po Pakopos”.
In 2023, Juozas completed his bachelor’s degree in contemporary dance at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA).
THREE KEY EVENTS:
– A clear commitment to myself that, for the foreseeable future, I want to pursue the path of a dance artist with purpose.
– Dance studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
– Every year, as the dance season draws to a close and I reflect with my students on the past year, I feel more and more strongly that what I do gives my life meaning.
