Povilas Jurgaitis is a contemporary dance artist, performer, choreographer, and dance educator based in Vilnius. He completed his degree in contemporary dance, along with a minor in dance pedagogy, in 2023 at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater. In 2025, he completed his master’s degree in dance and movement therapy at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater and Vilnius
University.
Through the Erasmus exchange program, he went to Reykjavík and studied at the National University of the Arts. In recent years, he has performed at international festivals such as “New Baltic Dance,” “Contempo,” and “Gaida,” and has collaborated with “Granhoj Dans,” “Šeiko Dance Theater,” “MMLAB,” and “Be Kompanijos.” He has worked with choreographers such as Nicolas Cantillon, Pietro Marullo, Vittoria de Ferrari Sapetto, Liza Baliasnaja, Vytis Jankauskas, Andrius Katinas, Giedrė Kirkilė, and Palle Granhøj.
In his current artistic practice, Povilas explores humanity’s dependence on technological devices, particularly when they become directly integrated into the physical body and create new expressions of identity that diverge from our conventional notions of the body’s naturalness. In addition to his artistic work, Povilas curates “Stebėjimai,” a contemporary dance education project for teenagers.

– My first visit to lindyhop and solo jazz classes at what was then the “Hoppers” studio (now “Whatajazz”) and my first competition win at the “Lindy Hop Classic Couples” event.
– Studies in Contemporary Dance and Related Pedagogy at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater.
– Dance-movement therapy studios that explore the healing power of dance.
