Mini dance festival PŪGA

Arts Printing House
Šiltadaržio str. 6, Vilnius
2019.12.27-29
PŪGA, the winter mini-dance festival by Vilnius City Dance Theater Low Air
December 27–28: free movement workshops for adults, a showcase of works by emerging artists, and the best dance performances, recognized with Golden Stage Crosses.

Program:

December 27, Low Air Dance School (Gedimino pr. 2A, 3rd floor) | Free
2:00–4:00 p.m. Movement and Dance Improvisation for Ages 50+

The PŪGA Winter Festival invites you to warm up your muscles, joints, mind, and spirits.
The dance improvisation workshop with choreographer Laurynas Žakevičius is based on natural body movement and simple techniques used in contemporary and urban dance.
L. Žakevičius and A. Gudaitė have been developing the idea of working with older adults for quite some time. As they travel the world, the choreographers have observed that dance unequivocally reduces isolation and breaks down stereotypes about what constitutes an “appropriate” age for movement and dance. Everyday movements in the studio can turn into a liberating dance for you, improving your physical and psychological well-being. We invite everyone aged 50 and older to join us.

December 28 at 7:00 p.m. Menų spaustuvė (6 Šiltadaržio St.) | Tickets available on Tiketa

“Home Trip” a performance blending dance, theater, music, and literature, has been honored with the Golden Cross of the Stage.

Bringing even more of the cold to PŪGA straight from their tour in Greenland is a collaboration between two generations of performers—dancers Airida Gudaitė and Laurynas Žakevičius, and renowned Lithuanian actors Larisa Kalpokaitė and Jonas Braškys. Live music will be provided by Justas “Dj Justinez” Butrimavičius and drummer Adas Gecevičius, performing alongside the artists.

December 29, 7:00 PM. Menų spaustuvė (Šiltadaržio St. 6) | Tickets on Tiketa

PŪGA is wrapping up the old year with the visual dance and live music performance “GAME OVER”.

Awarded the Golden Cross of the Stage and having toured the world, this work is “like a shower of glitter—a cascade of paradoxical, dreamlike images” [Helmutas Šabasevičius]. The artists invite you to dive into a dream, play with your imagination, and, for once, not be afraid to stay in your dreams. The audience is transported into specific situations where fantasies and subtle emotions intertwine with the reality of a dream, becoming an inseparable element of image and movement.
