Jazz

Jazz is an African-American dance that has existed for more than a century. This dance includes many dance styles from the 1920s and 1930s – Charleston, Tap, Black Bottom, Shimmy, Suzie-Q and many others. Also, jazz is not only a dance consisting of a multitude of steps and combinations, but also a huge freedom of improvisation, like jazz music itself. In jazz lessons, dancers learn the basics of authentic jazz dance, including various steps, jumps, spins, and positions. Much attention is also paid to movement in space, the connection of movements, the constant attempt to merge and become one with the music, and discover one's individuality. We will improvise, look for our jazz and find out how this dance has changed over time and what it is now.
